Set Quuppa Locators to Fixed IP address (with DHCP server)

Set Quuppa Locators to Fixed IP address

By default, the Quuppa locators use dynamic IP address assigned by DHCP server.

But in some cases, it is required to set them to fixed IP address for some reasons.

Followed are the instructions of set Quuppa locators to Fixed IP address.

0. Configure a domain

All setting operation is runs by a browser, you’d better configure a domain qpe which is pointed to the IP address of QPE server.

If are using Linux or macOS, you can configure the domain by edit the hosts file.

sudo vi /etc/hosts

Add a line like:

192.168.100.6	qpe

Save and exit.

1. Update QPE

Only QPE 7.0 or above version supports fixed IP address feature. If your project has a QPE 7.0 or above version, you should upgrade the QPE and firmware to the latest.

1.1. Upgrade QPE

  • Copy qpe-*.war to %Tomcat%/webapps/.
  • restart QPE service.
  • Open browser (Chrome, Edge are preferred) and visit http://qpe:8080/qpe/ to test whether the QPE upgraded successfully.

1.2. Upgrade Firmware of Locators

2. Reset locators

The parameter locator is a string made of locator IDs joined with “,”.

  • If the command runs OK, the code in the responded JSON string should be 0.
{
	"code": 0,
	"command": "http://qpe:8080/qpe/setLocatorIP?mode=reset&locator=a4da22efe186,a4da22efcc9e&humanReadable=true",
	"message": "2 Locator(s) commanded to factory settings",
	"responseTS": 1637560930351,
	"status": "Ok",
	"version": "1.0"
}

3. Set fixed IP with DHCP server

It’s easy to set a fixed IP address to Quuppa locators which have got a IP address already.
