In July 2022, Motianlun released the Russian Database Popularity Ranking <www.modb.pro/rurank?els>. The ranking now includes 32 Russian databases, competing for the top spot. 2022 is a new starting point for the Russian database industry.
Next, I will introduce the TOP 10 products on Motianlun's Russian database popularity rankings in July.
(Motianlun's top 10 Russian database rankings in July 2022)
ClickHouse
ClickHouse is a column of databases for Online Analytical Processing (OLAP). ClickHouse analyzes real-time database data. The system is based on the update target. In 2021, ClickHouse was established in a permitting state city with the goal of deploying the technology. An initial $50 million investment from Index Ventures and Benchmark Capital, with participation from Yandex NV and others. On October 28, 2021, the company raised a total of $2.50 in B financing at a valuation of $2 billion from Coatue Management, Altimeter Capital and other investors. The company continues to make open source projects and engineer cloud technologies. It ranks first this month with a score of 567.23.
GigaBASE
GigaBASE ranks second this month with a score of 270.27. GigaBASE is an object-relational embedded database engine for applications. It provides a SQL-like query language, an intelligent C++ interface, and transactions based on call paging. GigaBASE inherits FastDB's SQL, but the feature of page pool is direct mapping on virtual memory. BASE handles files larger than the size of the computer's physical memory. The convenient and flexible C++ interface makes the development of Giga BASE applications very easy. It is planned to use Giga BASE to evaluate the capabilities of the database. GigaBASE combines relational (simple data structures and non-procedural query languages) and provided objects (direct object references, user types and methods) database best features.
Postgres Pro
Postgres Pro is a fork of PostgreSQL developed by the community and is now divided into two versions: Standard Edition and Enterprise Edition. It is a product of Postgres Professional, which ranked third in July. The PostgresPro standard DBMS combines the full functionality of the corresponding version of PostgreSQL with specific patches and extensions developed by the PostgresPro team. Many of these improvements have been accepted for inclusion in future PostgreSQL releases. Postgres Pro Enterprise is the commercial offshoot of the Postgres Pro Standard DBMS. It includes all the features of open source PostgreSQL, Postgres Pro standard enhancements, and additional improvements and extensions for large-scale, high-performance database setups with strict reliability and latency constraints.
Linter
In July, Linter was fourth with 173.68 points. Linter SQL RDBMS is the main product of RELEX Group. Linter is a SQL:2003 compliant Russian DBMS that supports most operating systems, including Windows, various versions of Unix, QNX, and more. The system supports transparent interaction between client applications and database servers running in different hardware and software environments. DBMS Linter includes programming interfaces for most popular development tools. The system provides a high level of data security, allowing users to use confidential information. Linter is the only DBMS certified by Russia's FSTEC for Level 2 Data Security Requirements and Level 2 Undeclared Missing Functionality Controls. Linter has been used by the Russian Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other government agencies for many years.
Tarantool
Tarantool is owned by Mail.ru Group, which ranks fifth this month. It is an embedded NoSQL database written in Lua language and can be run directly in Lua programs. Combines the power of Node.js for network programming and Redis data persistence. Tarantool keeps data in memory and ensures crash resistance through write-ahead logging and snapshots. It also accepts connections from programs in several other languages. Tarantool can handle heavy write loads. It also allows full-featured applications to be kept close to data, reducing data access network latency to zero.
Perst
Perst is McObject's open source, dual-license, object-oriented embedded database system (ODBMS). Released in 2003, it ranked sixth this month with a score of 96.54. It has one version developed as an all-Java embedded database and another version implemented in C# (for Microsoft .NET Framework applications). Perst enables developers to store, sort, and retrieve objects in their applications with maximum speed and low memory and storage overhead, while leveraging the object-oriented paradigms of Java and C#.
Arenadata Postgres
Arenadata Postgres (ADPG) is a PostgreSQL open object relational DBMS product launched by Arenadata. Arenadata Postgres has become part of a versatile enterprise data platform based on the open source technology Arenadata EDP (Enterprise Data Platform). The platform was created to build high-load storage, lakes, and data factories in large organizations, as well as implement projects in the fields of machine learning, IoT, and artificial intelligence. In July, Arenadata Postgres ranked seventh, built on the latest and stable PostgreSQL 14.2 release.
DataScript
DataScript is an immutable in-memory database and Datalog query engine in Clojure and ClojureScript. It was a product released in 2014 and ranked eighth this month. DataScript is designed to run in the browser. It's cheap to create, fast to query, and ephemeral. You create a database on page load, put some data into it, track changes, make a query and forget about it when the user closes the page. DataScript databases are immutable and based on persistent data structures. In fact, they are more like data structures than databases. DataScript is designed to be a fundamental building block for client-side applications that need to track a lot of state over its lifecycle.
AlaSQL
AlaSQL is a relational DBMS designed to run in web browsers and JavaScript-based application servers (Node.js). It supports relational tables and document-oriented collections (JSON). The author of AlaSQL is Russian developer Andrey Gershun. The initial commit for AlaSQL on Github was on October 26, 2014. In 2014, there were a handful of NoSQL in-memory databases available directly in the browser. The lack of an SQL-compliant alternative motivated the AlaSQL project. One of the major milestones/releases of the AlaSQL project was version 0.1.4, which added foreign keys, unique/not-null/check constraints. In version 0.4.0, support for Typescript syntax checking was added.
Red Database
Red Database is a modern open source DBMS created on the basis of the open source software Firebird. It is an open source database product released by Red Soft, ranking tenth this month. It has the following characteristics:
- Supports all major platforms and operating systems (including: Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista, Linux family, BSD Unix, IBM AIX, HP-UX, Sun Solaris, etc.)
- Support for multiprocessor and multicore hardware platforms
- High performance - Red Database competes directly with databases such as Microsoft SQL Server 2005, Oracle 10g, PostgreSQL 8, etc. Red Database is more flexible in price category
- Ability to store the database in a single file
- "Hot" database backups and incremental backups (copying only the portion of the database changed from the previous copy, not the entire database), including the use of hardware backup solutions
